So there's no real point in gambling for something that only gives say 100% enhanced damage even if it's a rare, it will probably not have more affixes anyway. For instance I know I have the best weapon I can get for my level from a store because it's +200% enhanced damage and +40% attack speed. That's because shopping items especially catch up with rares since they have more affixes (mainly in Hell). Gambling will become less effective then drops and even items in shops when you get into the 70's but should still be good at this point. Same with the recipes, they are only worth it if you haven't employed other tactics at finding something better or using it at an early level before such items can be found.Д®xcellent.

A patch until you find something better so your game isn't broken if you get bad drops. BTH isn't exactly going to make you overpowered with runewords, they are more of a help and assistance rather than a complete solution. I admit to being a bit underwhelmed by the 6 socket runeword. I've only seen one or maybe 2 runewords worth putting on a regular physical damage weapon and they could be replaced easily by a rare or even something store bought. You were just unlucky and equipped them on the wrong item type. REGENERATION seems to be more for say a BloodWizard/Sorcerer cloak kind of item.

However at certain points in the game at earlier levels this could be really useful, just not a power item for late Nightmare or Hell. It actually makes collecting runes for body armor worth it, but there's better ways to get superior armor. Looks like GENERATION is great for any body armor, the best I've seen for that (that I can remember). With standard body armor it wouldn't have any additional statistics to it (that I can recall, probably the Blood Wizard being an exception).

Generally it's only class specific items that drop normal items with skills, so for this mod that's chiefly weapons. This being because you can get drops of normal items with skills on them, you can't buy them in town except maybe act 1 and 2 normal (all other items in town are magic items regardless, just like in the original game). The exception being non-melee weapons, but you probably want to be high enough level for the best skills to spawn on them in addition to any runeword you socket in addition to that. What level you are doesn't prohibit how many sockets items get, but it does stop you from getting a Hell level Axe for instance (like a Gothic Axe) before about level 70. With weapons you pretty much have to find them at a high level as it's not likely you'd find an axe that does 20 points maximum damage that happens to have 5 sockets very useful late game.

Yes you can find multisocketed items early on but they are often too low end to use in late game anyway, unless you don't care about armor rating. That's one runeword I hadn't figured out yet.
